The Invincibles

Never to be Forgotten
The Invincibles (captainkirk.wordpress.com)
Played 49, Won 36, Drawn 13, Lost None. The Arsenal squad which set a new unbeaten league record between May 2003 and October 2004 will live long in the memory and forever in the history books.
The Invincibles

Fast forward nearly a decade and Arsenal have not only been unable to repeat this really amazing feat but they have also not won the league again or any other silverware. So here is my "million dollar question", why have Arsenal failed to do anything substancial since those glorious times? Yes we can say that after The Invincibles the Arsenal squad went through a transition, old legendary players leaving and new young players emerging. However if one takes a look at Arsenal as a club (nevermind the players for now) one thing is clear. Arsenal has a distinct philosophy that permeates through the entire club, a unique way of doing things that few others can replicate. This means that any player who comes into the club is moulded into an Arsenal player, they should be able to do what any Arsenal players in the past did.

Can Robyn lead the modern day Arsenal team to Invincibility like Henry did all those years ago?

At the moment Arsenal is not chasing any history making feats but are after a top four finish. It is sad that a team capable of so much is chasing so little (considering what they are capable of). I think that the only way for this great club to end the animosity fans and other stakeholders have is to openly communicate with them. Why are we not as potent as before? Where is our flair, our mojo, our Invincibility? These are my recomendations.
  • Arsenal should tell us more about why we are allergic to sighning when it is how football works
  • Arsenal should sighn quality defenders and strikers
  • Arsenal should once again have high expectations of themsels like they had during the 03-04 season
These are all issues that have to be discussed in order for this great club, these Invincibles to rise once more.

A Tribute to The Invincibles

  1. i think van pasie can actually do better than what thiery henry did back there during his time, the dutch striker(van pesie)already has 24 goals this season and there is no doubt whatsoever that he will score more goals as there are still ten more games to be played this season.

  2. I think your right about the goals but his goals alone wont be enough to make Arsenal The Invincibles again. Some of the other players need to step up now as well.

  3. Football clubs should watch the messages they communicate.

  4. Indeed they should watch them, but I guess in an industry as unpredictable as football complete accuracy when it comes to corporate communication is a luxury people involved in football do not have.
