Arsenal can afford to lose Van Persie

The captain is set to leave the ship

It is almost as if Arsenal has been running around in circles when it comes to Robyn Van Persie. Speculation over his future has been going on for some time now. However now that the Dutch international seems almost certain to leave the club sooner or later an important question arises. Can Arsenal afford to loose him?

The answer is a simple yes. From a communication perspective, Arsene Wenger stated in an interview on the clubs official website that he will "do what is best for the club". It is clear from this statement that Arsene Wenger knows that tough decisions will have to be made.
                                                                                       Arsenal has survived this before
(Former Arsenal stars Fabregas -left- and Nasri: medestiny.wordpress.com)
Van Persie is not the only high profile player to leave the club. Players like Henry, Fabregas and Nasri have left the club leaving people counting it out. The club however stayed a top level team, there will always be a new star waiting in the wings. Even Van Persie rose to prominence by filling the gap left by Henry.

Arsenal should look to the future and focus on the talented young players it has at its disposal. All the back and forth banter over one players future sends the message that perhaps he is more valued than the bulk of the squad. This should not be the case, football is after all a team sport.

  1. Man that's just the way it is,stars come and go,if Van Persie's leaving then obviously there's another star that is coming and that will make you forget about the one who has left.

    1. Your quite right, such is the nature of the modern game, few players stay at a single club till retirement.

  2. I understand that football is businuss but I believe Arsenal Has the worst PR strategy of all the top flight English teams.A team needs some sort of consistency, a player that the fans can rely on who can be a simble for the club if players keep coming and going then a club loses it's identity and further more a team cannot build up the chemistry needed to reach it's potential.

    1. You are right, a team does need consistency in order to build morale and team chemistry. I think that also Arsenal struggles to keep top players due to the fact that they cant afford to pay the high wages that the likes of Manchester City can now afford to pay players. However good point indeed.

  3. Everything will be good as before whether they keep him or not,Arsenal is Asernal all the way and they have overcome this kind of situation before him.

    1. quite right Vongani, Arsenal has proved on many occasions in the past that they can still do well even after loosing star players.

  4. I think each and every team is always prepared for whatever can come across,so did Asernal. They hire public relations practitioner for things like that. A public relations practitioner is the master mind of a team in this case, someone who sees it coming before it comes and gets ready for it.

  5. I totally agree with you Phemelo, the team should get a person who knows the team inside and out, because it shows in the manner in which they communicate.

  6. I think Van Persie will not leave that much of a gap, with Podolski coming in and Arsenal has young talented players which can replace Van Persie if given enough game time. It is a loss but it is just a cut that will heal in a short space of time.Wenger can create anotrher Van Persie.
