The BIG GUNS come out!

As usual the English Premier League is providing us with fantastic football that is accompanied by the usual dose of suspence and intrigue. The recent form of Arsenal football club has certainly gotten a lot of people talking, it all started with the 2-1 win over Newcastle I watched on SuperSport. That win generated a lot of talk about how Arsenal could clinch third place if they went on to beat Everton and sure enough on the 21st of march I witnessed Arsenal win 1-0 over Everton. This victory moved them to third place on the English Premiership log and sure enough a communication melee ensued!
Vermaelen says Arsenal can finish 3rd |

Arsenal's centre back Thomas Vermaelen for example said: "We're always confident, especially if we keep winning games as we are. We've had some good results against some difficult teams.
"Look at the win at Everton. They have beaten teams like Manchester City and Spurs, so everyone knows it's not an easy place to come and get a result. But we showed good mentality again, winning a lot of duels at the back and that's why we got the three points."
Messages like this from people associated with Arsenal have been met with Arsenal have been met with mixed responses. Some people are daring to dream, believing that this is indeed possible as the form Arsenal has shown recently is a far cry away from the form of the beggining of the season. However Arsenals mananger Arsene Wenger has come out with a message of a different tone to Vermaelens "we're good for third place" one. Arsene said: "The hardest part is yet to come, so we must keep our humility..."
I for one am not particularly happy with these somewhat mixed messages, although Arsene has a point on the humility part its high time Arsenal started acting and communicating like the champions they once were.
the gunners have come a long way to get to where they are, I just wonder if they will be able to continue on that note and actually finish third place on the log
ReplyDeleteWell I guess we will just have to wait untill the end of the season to see if they do end up finishing third. It will sure make for some interesting football.
