The two pillars of strength behind Arsenal |

As the popular saying goes, all good things come to an end, and so the career of Arsenal legend Pat Rice has finally come to an end. Rest assured though, after spending 42 years at the club Pat will always be a Gunner. He went from lifting the F.A Cup as the Captain of Arsenal to working at the club as one of the best assistant coaches in the modern game.

New blood pumped into Arsenal
New signing Lukas Podolski greets fans as the newest Arsenal player (rstreem.com) |
Then there is the signing of Lukas Podolski and how this will contribute to giving the Gunners more arsenal up front. There are also still many questions about who else we might be after in our quest to challenge for the league. Then of course there is the big issue of Robin's future, will he renew his contract or not? The manager has also said that although finishing third wont guarantee that Robin stays it will help because a player of his calibre at his age has to be playing at the top level (ArseBlog).
It is evident that there is a lot going on and if anything all these communication messages surrounding Arsenal at the moment indicate that this is a club on the brink of a new era. So much is changing, new assistant coach, new players yet so much is staying the same, the clubs determination to do well and do things "The Arsenal way". It will certainly be interesting to see the developments in the weeks to come, for one last time though thank you Pat Rice!

A great man is leaving as a great potential is coming in the Gunners camp. Podolski will surely bring positive energy to the young Arsenal squad. Can't wait to see him in the red and white t-shirt.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly will be interesting to see the impact Podolski has on the team and it makes the prospect of next season an interesting one especially if Arsenal qualifies for the Champions league
DeleteI am not a gunner fan but they have being impresive this season and on the matter of Van Persie, I think he should stay on at Arsenal and keep shining there and with the signing of Podolski the Gunners will be unstopable. The combination of Podolski and Robin will be a lethal one, so Robin should stay on at Arsenal because big teams often buy players and waste their talents by putting them on the bench.
ReplyDeleteYou are right Thomas, I mean you touched on that issue in your blog post about Kaka and Real Madrid. He went from being the best to being a bench warmer, so I also feel that Robin should just stay at Arsenal where he will retire a legend
DeleteI saw the report on him and he was talking about how he went through emense pressure of being a fulltime player. Lets just hope he copes better in his new team.
ReplyDeleteWell Sizzle Van Persie has not left yet, it is the assistant coach that is leaving, we will know the fate of Van Persie at the end of the season.
DeleteThe gunners to rise again next season like they did back then during Henry's time....nice signing by Wenger,Podolski is one of the greatest left footed player and for sure he's going to add value to the Arsenal side.
ReplyDeleteWell said Vongani, I also believe that Podolski is one of Arsene Wengers best recent signings, he is a real quality player who should add great attacking value to Arsenal.
DeleteI hope Arsenal is treating Robin right and I hope it will be enough to make him stay.As for Pat, I wish him a lovely retirement. Gunner for life.
